Quick Answer: How Does Multiplayer Work in AION 2?

AION 2 is an MMO first: instanced PvE comes in solo, 5-player and 10-player sizes, faction war between Elyos and Asmodians runs through the Abyss, and the endgame assumes a group for the weekly Sanctuary lockouts and Conquest pushes. Factions live on separate servers, but the class roster is identical on both sides.

  • Party sizes: solo instances, 5-player party content, 10-player group dungeons (official Steam description).
  • Standard expedition composition: 1 tank, 1-2 healers, 3-4 DPS β€” class scarcity means Templars and Clerics never wait.
  • Faction war: the Abyss at level 45 β€” open-world PvPvE, Rifting windows, 10v10 battlefields and arenas.
  • Legions (guilds) unlock through an early story quest and coordinate the weekly endgame.
Solo play is fully supported through all 45 levels β€” the group systems become mandatory only when the Conquest ladder becomes your goal.

Should You Play Solo or Group?

Level to the cap solo or with a friend β€” the main story is the fastest route either way and the daily dungeon (level 30) is your first fixed group date. At 45 the math changes: weekly Sanctuary and Conquest dungeons are where progression gear comes from, which is where a legion or a steady friend group pays off. The abyss and legions pages cover both halves of the endgame social contract.
